Marilyn MacArthur – Vulcan County’s new economic development officer (EDO)
Marilyn MacArthur, who until last Friday was the enterprise facilitator at the Town of Chestermere, starts her new job at VBDS on March 31.
“I was very pleased” that MacArthur was hired, said Paul Taylor, president of VBDS. “I’m looking forward to seeing her rock and roll.”
It came down to two very strong candidates, said Taylor, and the hiring committee, which was composed of vice-president Jason Schneider and members Michael Monner and Lorna Armstrong, picked MacArthur.

MacArthur has a “great deal to offer,” including contacts in southern Alberta.
She has worked in High River, as the manager of business and tourism development for the Town of High River, and has also served in similar positions in British Columbia and Saskatchewan.
In 2010, she was named the Alberta Economic Developer of the Year. She served for several years as a director of the Economic Developers of Alberta.
