The History of Vulcan County

In 2011 the Vulcan Business Development Society in conjunction with Vulcan County successfully applied for matching funding to conduct a survey and inventory of historic places within our municipal borders (the funding was through the Provincial Government Program, the Municipal Heritage Partnership Program).

Heritage consultants Donald Luxton & Associates were contracted to carry out the survey and inventory with assistance from knowledgeable community members.  This project provides the basis to further recognize the potential value of the County’s heritage assets and aids in the recognition, conservation, and celebration of Vulcan County’s wealth of historic resources.
